Rodin ChermatLong title of research paper
Brachytherapy-on-chip : a simple and clinically-relevant approach forradiotherapy testing in 3D biology

Popularized title of research paper
A new simple method for radiotherapy testing

Short presentation
My name is Rodin CHERMAT and I am a 4th year PhD Student in Biomedical Engineer, supervised by both Prof. Thomas Gervais and Dr. Philip Wong. My PhD project consists in validating a new microfluidic device for the evaluation of brachytherapy/radiotherapy efficacy on clinically-relevant tumor models.

What was your method for explaining your thesis in 3 minutes?
Popularize and explain the main concepts as much as possible, then describe my thesis in chronological order.

How was your research topic inspired?
My research project was born from the collaboration of Prof. Gervais, microfluidicist, and Dr. Wong, radio-oncologist, resulting in many radiotherapy-on-chip projects. In 2022, after publishing a review paper on the topic of radiotherapy-on-chip and having noticed that no one had ever integrated brachyherapy to a microfluidic setup, I then offered to do so.

If you had to dedicate your research to someone from the past, present, or future, who would it be and why?
I dedicate my research to the one who will solve the challenges of cancer treatment, be it in 100, 1000 or 10000 years.

3 keywords to define your research work
